Art Miami celebrated its sixth year January 4-8, 1996, with participants from around the world exhibiting a stunning collection of paintings, sculpture, hand-blown glass, pottery and metal arts.

Art Miami is one of the major annual art shows featuring a current world view of art. This year's show played host to 94 galleries and art dealers from the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the Orient.

The Sculpture Park with large scale works was a popular attraction again this year, having made its debut in Art Miami ‘95. New in Art Miami ‘96 was the Miami International Contemporary Art Fair, a new group of contemporary, cutting-edge galleries offering a look into the world of art in the coming century. MICAF had a separate section of the fair and included exhibitions that are less commercial in nature, such as conceptual art, installations and performance art.

Art Miami is under the direction of a highly qualified, internationally renowned Dealer's Advisory Committee whose members include New York's Forum Gallery, Nancy Hoffman Gallery, Nohra Haime Gallery, Mary-Anne Martin Fine Art, and Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna.

New international galleries exhibiting for the first time at Art Miami include Galerie de France, Paris; Beaux Arts Gallery, London; Fidesarte, Venice; Frank Pages Gallery, Baden-Baden; Galerie Altmann, Austria; Galerie Bhak, Seoul; Galerie Wild, Frankfurt; Galleria d'Arte Contini Snc., Venice; Theo Waddington, London; Schumacher Editions, Duseldorf; Schoeni Art Gallery, Hong Kong; and from Vienna, Galerie Ernst Hilger, Galerie Grita Insam, Galeri Lang,and Galerie Tiller.
